The Kanawha Valley Astronomical Society is a non-profit educational organization located in Charleston, West Virginia. We are dedicated to promoting amateur astronomy and work closely with local schools and the Avampato Discovery Museum at the Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences.

August Meeting and Picnic
 


Instead of an August meeting we're having our annual picnic. This year's picnic is scheduled for August 14, 2010 at 6:00 PM at the Breezy Point Observatory. Families welcome. Bring your scope and enjoy the evening. KVAS will furnish the meat and buns. Sign up sheet for side dishes and other things will be at the July meeting. Rain date is August 28, 2010.

● Astronomy Weekend at Blackwater Falls 2010 The 21st KVAS Astronomy Weekend at Blackwater Falls State Park will be held on September 9, 10, 11 and 12, 2010. Make your reservations now while there is still room at the Lodge, in cabins and campgrounds. When making your room or cabin reservation, mention you are coming for the Astronomy Weekend for reduced room and cabin prices. Two full days of astronomy workshops and presentations, two keynote speakers and nighttime star parties are included free. There will be drawings for raffle prizes. Everyone is welcome!
