September 21, 2007

 

Attendance:

The meeting was called to order by Rodney Waugh.

 

Rodney welcomes Judy back to club.

He talked about Devon’s comments on Starquest.

 

Chuck Spann Blackwater Falls speakers

  • Introduction to telescope – Rodney welcome to Astro weekend

  • -intro to astronomy

  • chosing telescope

  • Prof. Littleton’s group studying plasma drives

  • Dr. Michelle Shin – “The search for dark matter”

  • After dinner will have keynote speaker, Larry (Bird) Taylor will talk on the James Webb telescope

  • -The  club will pay cost, travel and accommodations at Blackwater Falls.

  •  Raffle – Meade MySKy

  • Rodney went over the door prizes:

  • Lens, laser pointer, astronomy software

 

Chuck read Rick’s treasurer’s report

 

Bob read a letter from Curt Spivey

 

Bob looked at sheds from Lowes $500.00 for our consideration as a warming shed

 

Chuck has been working on a presentation for the State Master Naturalist program – Andrea Dalton is the contact person regarding this.  KVAS is going to have a program for them from 4:30-6:00 for continuing education units. There will be pizza for attendees.

 

The next KVAS meeting at BWF Astronomy weekend October, 2007
