Board Meeting
November 10, 2007
Attendance:
Rick Archer, Ron Buckalew, Bob Frostick, Chuck Spann, Patricia
Shaffer, Lee Hanz, Rodney Waugh
The meeting was
called to order by Rodney Waugh.
The objective of this meeting is for the board members to consider different buildings to be purchased and used as a warming shed.
Rodney handed out a paper with a description of the storage building that was available through Lowe’s.
Rick went over the club’s finances. He wants to see us keep the goal of saving money for a new telescope when the time comes to replace the existing one.
He would like to see us get back into saving the $1,000 CD with a goal of saving $500 a year, toward the purchase of our next telescope.
We have $2,800 in checking
$1,000 set aside to put into CD
$500 put into savings
That leaves $1,300 to fund activities into next year.
We are waiting on a bill form Camp Virgil Tate for grass cutting.
Bob states the telescope is priority.
Rick wants us to have a goal of having $5,000 in a savings account for the telescope.
Bob second’s Rick’s motion.
Rick is leaving sometime in 2008, probably after the middle of the year.
o The board allocated $300.00 to rehab the old warming shed instead of buying a new building.
o Possibly a fundraiser for a new building next fall.
o $500.00 a year for telescope fund. We decided that since we were all present in and near the Home Depot and Lowes that we would examine the buildings they offered.
Meeting was adjourned by Rodney Waugh.
We went to The Home Depot and Lowe’s to examine the buildings to be what would be the most suitable to use as a warming shed. The board liked the building offered by Lowes the best. After considering the total cost of building and the floor, that we would wait and refurbish the building we have, as agreed earlier.
